AN ARTIST MEAL IN MARTA

October 9, 6:20 p.m. Today I went with my friend Valentina Vitols to the Marta station, www.itsMarta.com, in order to use "my MARY KAY protection device for Marta" and take photos with her profesional camera. Before entering the N5 - Arts Center Station I opened the suitcase and put it on.

There were few people in the station. I walked to the stairs and went down. I saw a friend while I was recharging my breeze card but he didn't recognize me. While I was recharging my breeze card a women from the station asked me if I needed help. She tried to see my eyes, but it was difficult to see them because they were covered by my hood. I felt like hiding. I walked a situation s a normal person, pretending that nothing happened. This situation was easier for me than for Valentina. I went through the doors and into the station but Valentina didn't because a security woman told her that she couldn't use her camera. That was when I realized it was time to give up.

After leaving Marta I sat on the garden wall and took off "My Mary Kay protection device for Marta," and another security woman asked if we knew that it was prohibited to take pictures in public places, she told us that people had been very afraid of me, because a lot of people told her there was a Middle Eastern or a Mediterranean girl, who was dressed strange and might have a bomb. They must have assumed style of the hood, but nobody took the risk to look at my face and see. The security woman was very kind. She told us how to get permission to take pictures in Marta. We got along with each other and we discussed people’s fear of unusual thing; Every day people report anything they find strange or even silly to the Marta security people. She believed that the people in Marta were mortified.

This experience was like a our flavor sour in my mouth
I did not like that I offended people.
I did not like that I was included in political issues that did not relate to me.
I did not like that I didn’t take full advantage of the Mary Kay name on my suitcase.
I did not lke taking advantage of people’s fears and judgments of Mediterranean people in order to make polemic art

This experience was as good as chocolate (without milk)
- It was good to explore an artwork in a public space.
- It was different the experience to be hiding in a public place. Even though I was really nervous, I sweated and trembling.
-Performance in a public place and in a different country, make you thought that you’ll never know what is going to happen.
- I enjoy to made my MARY KAY protection device for Marta
- I took pleasure of using the body as support for an artwork
- It is motivating to open my work to the public places.
